FOR REVIEWERS

Our reviewers are the cornerstone of Romaya Journal's publication quality. Constructive, rigorous, and impartial peer review is the most critical part of ensuring the integrity of scholarly communication. This guide outlines the ethical responsibilities our reviewers must adhere to and the expectations for our journal's peer-review process. Our processes are based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) "Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers."
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
  1. Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Peer review assists the editor in making publication decisions and provides the author with an important opportunity to improve their manuscript.
  2. Confidentiality: All manuscripts sent for review are confidential documents. To protect authors' rights and the integrity of the double-blind peer-review process, these works must not be uploaded to or processed by any artificial intelligence tools, online platforms, or third-party software, nor shared through such means.
  3. Impartiality and Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly and constructively with supporting arguments.
  4. Punctuality: A reviewer who accepts an invitation should complete the review within the agreed-upon timeframe. A reviewer who anticipates a delay should immediately inform the editor.
  5. Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should immediately notify the editor and decline the review assignment if they identify any conflict of interest (competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with an author/institution) related to the manuscript.
  6. Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited in the manuscript. They should also check whether an observation or argument made by the author has been previously reported in another source.
The Review Process and Criteria
We kindly ask our reviewers to focus on the following key elements in their evaluation:
  • Originality and Novelty: Does the work provide a new and significant contribution to the literature?
  • Methodology: Are the methods used valid, reliable, and appropriate for the research objective?
  • Results and Interpretation: Are the results supported by the data, and are the interpretations logical?
  • Structure and Readability: Is the manuscript well-organized, and is the language clear and understandable?
  • Command of Literature: Has the author cited relevant and current literature?
Our Reviewer Incentive Policy
In recognition of their invaluable contributions to our journal's academic development, reviewers who complete 10 or more reviews within a calendar year are granted the right to publish one article free of charge in the following year.
